Sildern
The now ruined former capital of Kaevil.
It was a grand city with strong fortifications, but the events of The Sundering broke down the great gates and toppled sections of the wall. Fires blazed throughout the city and armies fought back and forth outside and within the city for weeks.
Now it is a wreck, left desolate and unrepaired following the sack of the city and the driving away of its inhabitants. Ghosts are said to haunt the empty streets and prey on those foolish enough to tread there. According to legend the shade of Edregard III still watches over his city from the ruins of his royal palace, his oath to protect his city unfulfilled.
History
Originally founded as a small fortress during the expansion of House Kaevil northward from Caervil as part of their remit to settle and pacify the heart of the land, Sildern soon began to expand and became first a major garrison and then a citadel surrounded by a growing city. In 650 with the formal creation of House Kaevil as an independent noble house, Sildern was declared their capital.
When Aldemar I was pronounced King in 659, Sildern became the capital of all of the land that now bore the name Kaevil
