Rahil Mutajawil, or Wandering Departure

Many Fauthful develop a specific kind of degenrative disease at the end of their lifespans.  This disease is neurodegenerative in nature and its symptoms come on very quickly.  It affects the victim's cognitive process and memory.  They get confused and forgetful, almost overnight.  And in many, many cases, the victim simply wanders off into the desert, never to be seen again.  The victim will die of dehydration and exposure, they will fall down onto the sand, and their bodies will dessicate in a very short period of time.  This happens to 85% of all Faithful.  It happens so frequently, their society has learned to accept it as the typical end-of-life ritual of their people.
They call this affliction Rahil Mutajawil, which means "Wandering Departure" in Arabic.
Extensive scientific study has not yet revealed the cause of the disease, how to prevent it, or how to treat it when it hits.  They suspect the cause has something to do with the Faithful's diet, yet their nutritional regimen is quite good.  They do their best to drink and eat healthy, so they will live a long time, and to give their bodies as much advantage as possible when living in such oppressively hot environmental conditions. They drink enough water to keep themselves sufficiently hydrated, accounting for the amount of water they lose through sweating. They eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, especially ones with a lot of water content. They eat some meat, too, in order to maintain proper protein levels.
Since the cause has not been proven to be diet or nutrition, testing is currently underway to determine what else might be the cause: chemicals, genetics, toxins, or possibly viruses.
At this point, they are completely at a loss.  They have considered reaching out to one of the other six kingdoms in Rodinia, but none of them has medical or scientific technology higher than that of the Faithful, so that steps hasn't been seen as necessary or productive yet.
