Barthen’s Provisions

Barthen’s Provisions is open from sunup to sundown. The proprietor is Elmar Barthen, a lean tiefling male shopkeeper of fifty years with a kindly manner. He employs a couple of young clerks (Ander and Thistle), who help load and unload wagons and who wait on customers when Barthen isn’t around.

Location

The store ia located on the north side of Malginess, and to the west of owner Elmar Barthen's house. It is the first shop that can be seen when entering Malginess from the Triboar Trail.

Services

Barthen's Provisions acts as a general store, and is open from dawn until dusk. It selss low-cost trade wares, such as adventuring gear, as well as rations and other simple goods. However, while they do not sell weapons and armor or potions, Barthen helpfully direct interested buyers to places where they could find these. For larger orders, Barthen supplies a cart pulled by his ox Vincent to move the goods.

Barthen's Provisions also serves as a trading hub. Clerks Ander and Thistle unload and load carts of goods and resources that come into, or are to go out of, Malginess via wagon. Barthen also brokers deals for large sales of livestock and similar goods, bringing together local sellers from as far south as Leilon with buyers as far afield as Barrath.

Purpose / Function

Barthen’s is the biggest trading post in Malginess. Its shelves stock most ordinary goods and supplies, including backpacks, bedrolls, rope, and rations. Barthen’s does not stock weapons or armor, but characters can purchase other adventuring gear here, with the exception of items that cost more than 25 gp. Customers in need of weapons or armor are directed to the Lionshield Coster.
