Music houses

Every town and village has a house, or series of houses, for Conservatoire members to use. In smaller settlements these are only used by visiting players, while in the larger towns there are residents who stay there all the time.

Resident Players

Part of the requirements for promotion through the ranks at the Conservatoire is to serve in different places and experience different roles within the organisation. One possible role is as a resident player in the different lands. A Master, or Esteemed Master, runs each of the music houses, and there will be a contingent of Sectionals supporting them.
The exact group in any location changes over time as they are posted to different places and new Sectionals come for experience. Sectionals move more frequently than Masters. You very rarely have a group of just Sectionals, or without any Sectionals. Generally they are in groups of five - one conductor and one of each section of instrumentalists.
The Citadel has the largest group of resident players outside of the Conservatoire.

Within the community

The resident players at a music house have a responsibility to that community. They are consulted by the leaders of that area, and take part in local ceremonies. While all Conservatoire members have a requirement for continued study of their instruments, they all provide services to local people as requested. And they also have a role to identify possible new students and send them to the Conservatoire for aptitude testing.
