The Battle of the Menagerie

Military action

Creatures of Ubtao's Menagerie and their armies fight for control of the power in Zultica following Ubtao's departure. Tribes fracture and reform as factions gather to fight on behalf of Menagerie gods that represent their ideals, or those gods that convince them to join their side.   The A'Toa are swept up into the conflict. Their roles as heroes are used as a recruitment tool, and they are manipulated to be used as chess pieces in military conflicts.

In the years following Ubtao's departure, it was clear that his departure was going to change the trajectory of the region forever.   Seeing her opportunity for power, Sendaris began plotting on how she would best be able to take over the cradle of civilization and bring about the Eternal Night.   However, for her to be able to do so, she needed to get Axolotl out of the way, as the bird had always been a thorn in her side.       The day of the battle was chosen for it's mathematical and religious importance. It was held on the 21st because that was the day of the Winter Equinox and the beginning of the campaign season. However, the offensive began right before midnight, when Axolotl's power was at its lowest, while Sendaris' was at it's highest.
