Axolotl, Sendaris Awaken; Omu is Born

Era beginning/end

Quetzuma follows his prophetic vision to completion, discovering the location of where Omu was to be located.   Seeing the Eagle and Snake locked in equal struggle, Quetzuma decides to grant them both sentience, the beginnings of his future menagerie.

Ubtao received a vision when he gazed upon the Scroll of Beginnings in the Peaks of Flame.   In it, he saw a papua tree amid the forest, where a serpent and a hawk were perched, locked in combat. Ubtao understood this vision as a prophecy; when he found that which he foresaw, he would establish his city at that location.   Ubtao returns to Tenochzuma to claim his bride and his new home. However, Tenochzuma is furious over Ubtao's success, and the popularity he has earned through his daring trial.   He decides to insult Ubtao by sending his most sickly and youngest daughter to become Ubtao's bride.   Ubtao's tribe wanders for several weeks, as the young leader searches for his vision, and gets used to his new powers.   One day, though, he comes across his vision; a snake with black and gold scales with red eyes, straining to bite an eagle, resplendent with plumage of red, gold,and white.   Ubtao, using his magic, stops their fight, and bestows the creatures with sentience. This is the birth of Axolotl and Sendaris, and the creation of Ubtao's Menagerie.   He explains that his decision to grant them personhood was contingent on them never attacking him, which both creatures agree to.   Ubtao begins construction of his city, which he names Omu, which roughly translates to "that which has seen God".
