In the case of no lawful heirs being identified the Monarch Rose Tea ceremony takes place and the new monarch appointed to one immune to the effects of the Tea
Or, of course, having married the reigning monarch also earns the appropriate title (on occassion with Cosort added, but often ignored).

The monarch is appointed upon the death of their predecessor and with the support of the Bench of Noble Lords.
Noble Lords are among the High Born families of Geldheim.

No Monarch has been dismissed to date.
