The Hill Giant Steadfast

Party set out on their first mission to investigate giant raids near the hill of Bardaga

The characters are all invited to a meeting with a respresentative of the Scholars Guild in Whitewell. There they meet Wilston Sedlefodle, a pleasant and friendly gnome who introduces himself as the head of the exploration wing of the Scholars Guild. Also at the meeting was a very quite and not particulalry friendly half elf called Davneak Baljor. Davneak's presences was not fully explained other than a reference made by Wilston to him being there as a consultant on more sensative matters. Collectively the chartaers are recruited to investigate hill giant distrubances along the trade road to the North West toward Akan Kryl along the eastern edge of the Hills of Bardaga. They are given the known loaction of the Hill Giant Steadfast that is located in the hills with instruction to find out who is behind the operation and also distrupt it. The party travel 4 days to get to the location and find a small sheltered cave about 30 mins south of the steadfast. There they secured their horse and comoflague the entrance to the cave. The travel to that location was reasonably uneventful except for the night before they arrived where the party were attacked by 2 bandits and their Dire Wolves while the party was sleeping.   They then approached the steadfast being careful to avoid observation. Noting the patterns of the roaming guard they observed from the roof a holding pen containing 14 Dire Wolves. After causing a diversion through use of magic the noise from the barking Dire Wolves attrached the attention of their Hill Giant handler that entered the holding pen from a door to the North East. The party then ambushed the handler and his Dire Wolves, dropping down from the roof and entering through the eastern exterior door.   After taking some time to hide the bodies of the Dire Wolves and Hill Giant in rooms in the north east of the steadfast, they proceed through the double doors to the south where they came across a dining area that was currently empty due to the gathering in the main hall. Searching the room they discovered a secret door hidden behind a manticor skin which lead to an underground level. Finding another secret door near the base of the stairs they found a secret treasure room which contained (amongst the tresure and magic items) information on past and planned raids as well as instructions on how to use a magic device in the shape of a chain to teleport to the glacial rift of the Frost Giant Jarl.   The party gathered this information and left the steadfast, then traveled back to White well to inform the scholars of their findings
