Ina Sakhu

“They speak of an affliction called Ina Sakhu. It’s what the cows get. Then the girls get it – always the runts of a litter of children, the milkmaids, the sometimes-prostitutes. Painful sores on hands and faces. Disfiguring, painful, yes. But somewhere I read that these girls do not get the Seha Sakhu – they are saved from that terrible fate. And if someone does something about it soon, I may not be lost to grief.”
Anolf Oshtafan
Milkmaids, or the Sej, of Pani Puri are susceptible to a sickness known as Ina Sakhu. The urban legends around the disease have inspired some medical professionals to theorise that it may protect against the terrifying Seha Sakhu plaguing the streets of Shari.

Symptoms

It present with symptoms that are quite similar to those of Seha Sakhu, also known as death's illness, including enlarged glands, fevers, and big blisters, most of which appear on the hands.

Anolf Oshtafan's Diary

In rough and hard-to-read handwriting, due to the illness of Anolf's friend, Rura Ero   I've taken myself to helping out the doctor, one Seje Ruhe in order to keep myself sane. We cannot leave Shari, and I want to help someone. If I stay inside all day, I would just rot. Though my skin would thank me, yes, indeed. But nonetheless, I follwoed the doctor to the Isi District. It's on the outskirts of Shari. We've been cautious, for all our sakes. Acording to the doctor, we were looking for a milkmaid which is odd for a doctor.   Odd for a doctor but it could be helpful. As the milkmaid we eventually found said, "Us girl's don't die because we get Ina Sakhu first.". That could help us. That could free this land from this pestillence. And maybe my beloved won't die.
