World Ember 2023 Prep

I don't really do prep for things but I'm a badge fiend so I'm going to try and do prep, buckle in folks. Well Hello, I'm back from the dead, my name is Bette, I make things, mainly cultures because it's fun.

Goal

Can I write 10k in a month? Yes I can with questionable qualirty control because obviously. I'm going to pledge 10k because I'm not planning to burn myself out for multiple months or to give myself severe imposter syndrome if I do not completele the other goals. But I'd like to do 25k because I might get culture building done.

Content of this afformentioned goal

My content is: who knows? I have ADHD and need to bounce between 15 different projects to feel things. Yay. However, I do have a rough direction of where I plan to go. I now have 6 dumb idiots-turned narrators to hop between.   But my primary focus for WE, if I don't get bored before then is my narrator for Chershe, the man of many hats, Venad Sistolfyi, as the last month-ish has been me just redesigning the Chershe. I will try and flesh out some big articles for them, however at the moment I'm feeling that I'll probably write on the miniscule scale exploring the village of Sóndoshor and Venad's family dynamics. Especially since I've been following a prompt list for November from the wonderful Nakari Speardane. I'd recommend you'd check out their stuff!
Want to learn more about my project for this month! Look no further than here! I decided to section off my mini meta to there as it felt like a good place.

Organisation

Well! It's always hard to organise with me. Well that's a lie, I love to organise but can't stick to it! But rather than trying to overhaul the whole system I organise my content with, I've stuck to just my Chershe category

Homepage

Now to write me a homepage! I've been putting this off forever, but one must write one eventually. It's a bit clunky, but for now it works until my brain starts working again

People all experience the world differently. That's just a fact of life. Like the sun rises and sets each day. But some chase that difference. Others choose not.

Tonye Zhunsolf finds herself in the house of her father's old friend, having been cast out. But rather than cooling her heels, it enflames them. And there's a whole lot to be angry about in this new and changing world.

Prim Invimz. Similar station. Very different set of circumstances. His place in the civil service was bought for him. But he might actually be a semi-competent man with some shaping. Problem is, he's more a scholar or mystic than a servant to his Majesty, the Emperor.

The dark-skinned Chiruba Geganfi's always been a foreigner. Yet she'd never step foot in her homeland before this past summer. She made a bet, took out a loan and charged straight for the target. Even if that target was a position at the principal Yapani Univeristy. A place not exactly known for equality. So, she sulks, and remembers part of her loan; she must go on a fool's errand for 15 items. Of her benefactor's choosing, all quite strange even in the Yapani Valley. Let her copies of anthropology texts keep her content.

Venad Sistolfyi's always been a restless man. He joined the army, worked many trades and joined a missionary organisation. What was meant to be a year at best in the cold mountains of northern Tihan Country became 6 in which he married a local and began to question all. When there's a war waging a week south-east of you, missionaries from every direction and your own perceptions are against you, a quiet life with Chershe is hard to find.

Every ill fortune came to Oskeru Froya's door, a pretty unremarkable man, if you ignore his indifference to danger. He lost his wife and one of his daughters and even his beloved bottle could not comfort him. So rather than sulk into the gambling dens and drown his sorrows in vices, he takes a boat. A boat and then multiple days inland to the heart of Tihan country. Currently embroiled in civil war. The plains are turned red as 30 years of conflict spill out further and further. The unremarkable journalist must get front row seats.

Pani Puri calls to Anolf Oshtafan, the tiny protegee of Lady Chosna Zilshirmrin. He's always wanted to visit, especially since his partner comes from there. But when he's given a box, a small fortune and strict instructions to get on the next boat out. He does as his told. What comes next? A whole lot of chaos. Wealth and joy bubbles but gives way to immense grief. Anolf adjusts his spectacles. He must get the box where it goes. There's something important to be done. And duty rules his world.

More Prep

Well, WE homework aside, I've been also preparing art for my articles this time. I've actually been drawing a hell of lot behind the scenes. While I'd love to commission people to create art, especially for my characters, I'm currently not in a situtation to commission, hence the use of Heroforge and all my prep!   Also, I love drawing me a functional map and some clogs

Cleaning Up My Workspace

I didn't know how to do week 4's homework. But I thought of a way. Immense organisation gives me dopamine, whether I do or do not stick to those things. I also currently have 2000 (hyperbole) tabs open due to references and half-finished research. So how about I organise all my tabs!   It might make writing conistently more comfortable this time around. Who knows? Certainly not me!

I love how you've decided to define your focus! It's so much easier to set goals when we know ourselves. Wherever you end up, I hope you have a great WorldEmber! :)

A rough direction is still a direction, and it'll be a nice surprise to see what you end up writing. Always better to write what you feel like and enjoy than force yourself into something.   Good luck on reaching your goal! And I have a broom ready in case the brain goblins start bothering you too much.
