Rise and Fall of the Ancient Vizar Empire
The tale of the Ancient Vizar Empire has been told and retold so often that the details are almost non-existent. The general consensus of what happened goes like this:
Thousands of years before The Fracture, the world of Kaldra was primordial and untamed. Great beasts crawling, swimming, and flying dominated the world and slaughtered the sons and daughters of men. Mankind as a whole was doomed to flee at the sight of these mighty magical beasts. Even the elements themselves fought violently the men which lived on their land. For an untold amount of time, this was mankind's fate.
Then the Ancients came. Highly powered men and women began showing up in the villages of Kaldra. Calling themselves "Vizar", they united the people under their control and began building the Great Cities of Kaldra in opposition to Dragons, Elementals, and the other monsters that surrounded them. Their reign spread throughout the world quickly and were feared by all. It is said that they carved great arcane engines and taught some to wield their otherworldly-power. Their fame grew as they built massive machines beyond the understanding of men. They divided the world up into territories, each with a Vizar of great power to protect it. They ruled for an unknown amount of time.
But eventually many of these leaders became corrupt with power and control, forcing their people to become slaves building their devices for war, and turning on the other Vizar. This created a rift between the Vizar, effectively starting an arms race between the many territories, with each of them vying for control of more territory and more power. Several Ancients, known as the "Protector Vizar" quickly banded together and created an army of Vizar and man alike to defend their homes. This was the start of the Ancients War, better known as the Vizar Cataclysm as each of the Vizar fought with each other as well as the few Protector Vizar, who even while being hopelessly outnumbered, desperately fought for their people.
No one knows how long the war lasted, but by the end, only a handful of benevolent Ancients a few hundred humans survived. It was then, a hero known as "Houl", a Vizar of great power, leader of the Protector Vizar, used his might to save what was left of the people of Kaldra, separating them from the Ancients forever. Doing so killed him and created what is known as "The Fracture" - the separating of the gods.
This was the fall of the Ancient Kaldran Empire and the rise of the Nomadic Era.
