The Port Quarter

The commercial centre of Katamarin, this quarter is constantly bustling at all hours with busy markets and ships coming and going. It is said more coin changes hands in the Port Quarter in one hour than the entirety of Partem makes in a given day. Other than the Noble Quarter, this part of the city is the most heavily policed by the Imperial Guard, working in collaboration with the Port Authority to ensure that every contract is honoured, and that orderly conduct is maintained for the ease of economic development. This is also the first part of the city that most visitors see when they arrive by sea, and as such many renowned inns and taverns make a living hosting adventurers, sailors, and workmen alike.
The Main Channel, the canal that runs through the heart of the Port Quarter all the way up past the University and the Residential Quarter is also the most heavily trafficked, with points of high congestion in mid-morning and early evening.
