Neu-Alextra

Neu-Alextra is a port city on the west coast of Kandria. It's a part of the Andric Empire and its main trading port. It is surrounded by large stone walls. The walls are, like the buildings in the city, made out of stones with a beige colour. The city is divided into two major districts. One half is on dry land. The other half is built on pillars of stoned wood. The impressive stronghold on top of the steep coast Sanctum Hope defines the skyline.   If you are new to the city it can be quite challenging to find your way around. The harbour district is like a labyrinth where you can always see and hear the ocean beneath you, but you are surrounded by houses, which stack up high into the sky. There are some suspension bridges between tall buildings.   The landlocked area is more organised and has a well arranged road system. The Magical Mass Communication Terminal (MMCT) is located near the market. The higher someone climbs the roads of the steep coast the more luxurious the mansions become.   Rumours are that the city guard has lost control of the large sewer system and Syndikat Nox uses it as headquarters. Somewhere down there is the infamous Evernight Den.   The locals either know the way they need to go by heart or you can use the hang glider platforms on top of the tallest buildings to get around easily. If you crash it is your fault and you will probably get laughed at. The port is also protected by walls. If you want to enter from the sea, you have to sail through a gate that can be raised and lowered. The gate is flanked by two huge statues. Local legends claim their eyes follow you and judge if you are worthy to pass.

Demographics

Most of the half-elves live by the Harbour either on the streets or in some shacks. They mostly work as waiters, errand runners and dock workers. They are not granted access to the MMCT. Often left with no choice many half-elves live a life of crime and work for the Syndicate Nox. Humans are equally spread between the rich and the poor, same goes for the halflings but they are less likely nobles but still wealthy. The Dwarfs in the city are few and have been sent as Ambassadors of the Empire of Lóng Huǒ . They are most likely lesser nobles and are treated with utmost respect.

Government

A council of noblemen decides on new laws and taxes in the city. The council only pretends to be in control of the city. The real player is Stromus Solare, which is liked by many.

Defences

In the North, East and South of the City a massive stone wall, with iron gates encircle the city. The Harbor in the west is protected by a huge stone wall, which is directly placed in the Water, with one entrance that can be closed in an instant by an attack. Hostile Ships get destroyed by flaming catapults and ballista. In the inner city, there are 2 walls, one that goes from the north to the south and one that goes from east to west.

Industry & Trade

This city is all about the trading, you can get everything from every location of this world from old stinking socks to great magical artefact. If the price is right and you know who to ask, you get it.

Infrastructure

Of course, you can find some nice Shipyards here, even though they aren't as good as the ships from Skadraggn, you'll definitely find some decent one here. Sewerage was built in the founding time of the city, which also led to the establishment of public toilets where you sit face to face your neighbour. They also have the biggest magical mass communication centre, in the Empire.

Districts

The distinct character of the harbour district comes from its various designs for its colourful buildings, the only core feature they share is their wooden structure. Houses are built wherever there is space. A distinct smell of fish, salt waters, spices and rotten wood is quite notable for the first time visitors. In countless small market, people can buy the most curious and exotic goods, and of course all of the traders sell smuggling goods whenever a new ship arrives. Most of the warehouses are built close to the port, near the customs authority; some holding areas have been built in between the decrypt housing of the harbour district. Many citizens get abducted near the port, but the half elven population is affected the most by this occurrence. Officially there is a closing hour, but this isn't really enforced by the city guard.   Meanwhile in the landlocked area the finer people of Neu-Alextra have built themselves grand houses and even grander mansions. White marble, Flat roofs and patios portray the city escape. The city market near the Magical Mass Communication Centre is the most busy place until closing hours. The newly constructed MMCC-Tower has opened up new opportunities for the market. Business partners all-over the Andric Empire can be informed of new trading prospects.   The white fortress Sanctum Hope built by Stromus Solare , has become the forum for legal affairs. As the safest institution it also contains a prison. Everyone can discuss legal matters here. All hearings are open to the citizens of the andric empire.   Everything about the Evernight Den, the unofficial district in the sewer, is a rumour to ordinary people. It is supposed to be the headquarters of the smuggler Guild Syndicate Nox. Half-Elven believe this to be an enclave for their society, where their lost culture can thrive.

Guilds and Factions

The Noble Council is a bunch of arbitrary wannabe politicians, making everyone's life harder. Merchant Guild was formed to protect the interests of all traders against the despotism of the Noble Council and as an alliance against Syndicate Nox' attacks on their assets. Stromus Solare holds great power in the population and has settled here to free the city of the sickness that is Syndicate Nox. They have declared open war against the crime syndicate. Syndicate Nox operates in the shadows. Blackmailing politicians, merchants, city guards and collecting protection money from business owners. They have infiltrated every organisation. Even if someone gets caught, judges will be paid off.
