At a young age Arkyn graduated from his apprenticeship in Knighthood. With his newly found knowledge and skills, he set out to adventure across many different lands, meeting all sorts of people, good and bad.
On one faithful night, he was restless, so he decided to go and clear out a local bandit ring hiding out in some ruins 2 days from town. Upon arriving at said ruins, there were no bandits, but corpses. Seeing this, he readied his sword and shield, and proceeded forward into the depths of the ruins. A cold shiver crept over him as he silently crept through the empty, abandoned ruins.
It felt like hours had passed in the span of a few minutes. After what felt like ages, he discovered the cause of the bodies at the entrance. An ancient cult performing a sacrificial ritual. The sacrifice of mortals was essential in drawing a demon out, and keeping it's hunger sated as they captured it. The leader, a tall elderly man, was going from one person to the next, slitting their throats. Seeing what was happening, he had to stop it, he revealed himself and demanded the ritual be halted immediately.
He was too late, the vessel containing the demon's soul had broken, and the demon's harvesting had begun. The demon, upon seeing this, decided he would waste no time feasting, and instead he would attempt to possess this prime specimen. The soul crashed into Arkyn's body, leaving behind a terrible brand on his neck/face. Immediately the demon got to work and began trying to make Arkyn bend to his will, but the young Knight's will was too strong to succumb to the demon, so now the creature's soul is trapped in Arkyn's body, until he can find a way to rid himself of the parasite. Forever bound to a mortal.
Constantly will Arkyn fight mental battles with the demon for possession of the body. Sometimes with the demon being the victor, but not for long. This demon is known as The Gatekeeper, and he allows the collection of more demon souls, deciding which soul is worthy of passing through. He is also able to lend his powers to Arkyn. Any demon soul Arkyn absorbs is able to lend him their powers, as a deal for them getting 3 hours of freedom.
Arkyn is struggling to find a purpose now, his goal is to make the voices stop and to once again have his humanity.

A young man on the brink of losing his very humanity to a demon that's bound to his body. Arkyn struggles to find companionship and struggles even more to maintain it.
