Velkirk

The Golden City

Also known as the golden city, Velkirk is the capital of the continent of Terra Vermiculus. It is a mixing pot of every variety of races. The city has gone through it's fair share of hardships, and good times. The rightful bloodline orginally belonged to the Von Croys, but since the usurping and revolt against the king in 835 the throne now belongs to the Mortain family. Velkirk will always remain a stable and reliable economic powerhouse to the rest of the world.
Due to the Mortain's family betrayal, the city has been in civil unrest as of the last couple of years. Many racists would see the Elf dethroned, one way or the other...

Demographics

3 Large districts, poor, middle class, and upper class. The poorest ones are a variety of races that are different and often discriminated against. Anything out of the ordinary. The upper class is typically the classic races, like humans, elves, dwarves, etc.

Government

There is a king at the heart of the city who resides over the entire continent of Terra Vermiculus, and where there's a king, there's those who are always in the shadows, planning.

Defences

Manned walls, towers, drawbridges, multiple inner city gates separating the districts, at the top is the Golden Keep, where the royal family resides. At their harbor are large chains and walls the height of giants. This protects their massive navy.

It's own goldmine, the food it exports.

Architecture

Walls of Stone hundreds of feet high, structures of stone brick and timber framing with glass windows crowding the city's narrow cobblestone roads. The stacks of homes climbing quite high, getting closer to the Golden Keep, and improving in style as they get closer and closer. At the front gates is the Market Square.

Geography

This city is built atop a small mountain, featuring many different levels of elevation for the homes of the residents. Many bridges connect different parts of the city, running over the various waterfalls that are featured throughout the city. At the peak of the small mountain rests the Golden Keep.
