WC2 - Performance Enhancing Herb

Menthol-fresh Adrenaline Rush

If you're trapped on a ship with nearly a dozen other adults for weeks' at a time, there better at least be good food. The deliciously aggressive mint plant is perfect for long voyages. Even though it needs to fresh water to grow, the little plants grow quickly and the leaves can be dried if unused. Every life-long cook or chef on a ship 'worth their salt' boards their new vessel with a small (or not-so-small in some cases) garden of potted plants that will provide the crew with fresh flavours.

The survivors of the Storm found that they had several mint plants but few places where they'd grow well enough to become bountiful. While initially exploring the cove and later most of the coast, many attempts were made to cultivate more plants and some were more successful than the sailors realized. In this specific instance several mint plants were left behind when a couple of sailors meandered into a cavern and were ambushed by a 'large spider-like' creature. Several months passed by the time the pair had the time to gather more supplies before returning for the gear they had abandoned and discovered that the plants had somehow survived.

Perhaps something in the water so deep below the surface affected the plants, or the unusual sunless sources of nourishment somehow changed them, but the plants that were returned from the wild were definitely changed. Regardless of how it happened their natural defense mechanism, the production of menthol as a deterrant, was multiplied and an additional component was added. During the chemical process these mint plants also began producing an organic form of epinephrine. Thankfully the effects were noted before any serious harm was done but the possible uses were countless and it has been used by Eiyudi healers ever since.
