Kretavin's Syndrome (kreh-TAV-ins)

Kretavin's Syndrome is a condition affecting the ovaries of approximately four percent of Kavrillians with a uterus--including Empress Vazali.

Causes

The exact cause of Kretavin's Syndrome is unknown, but it is thought to be genetic.

Symptoms

Symptoms first appear during puberty, including lethargy, poor appetite, weight loss, and abdominal pain.

Treatment

In mild cases, a course of medication may halt the condition from developing further. Fertility is significantly reduced, making pregnancy rare but not impossible, and the patient does not experience any more symptoms.
In more serious cases, the symptoms may return when the patient is between twenty and thirty years old.   If Kretavin's Syndrome progresses to this second stage, the only recourse is to surgically remove the ovaries.

Prognosis
