Magai training halls

Magai training halls were spaces in temples belonging to the Grand Order of the Magai, most notably, the Grand Magai Temple. These large spaces offered room for Magai to exercise and train. Aside from general exercise, training halls let Magai practice with martial arts, work on their magic, or even experiment with their magic to find new or different ways to use it.

Purpose / Function

The training rooms let Magai work not only on their physical condition with general exercise, but also offered them space and opportunity to practice combat forms, train their magic, and experiment with either (or both) to find new or different ways to use it. Training halls were public spaces, though most had private locking rooms included, which gives Magai the opportunity to connect with others training, or to give advice on something another Magai is struggling with, or to participate in an interesting-looking experiment. As such, training halls were not just a space for exercise and training, but also of connection.

Contents & Furnishings

Though exact contents varied over time and per training hall, they typically contained at least one softer padded area for exercise and combat training/martial arts. Often the rooms also offered exercise equipments for various species, as well as a variety of training weapons. Most training halls also had benches, sometimes (partially) elevated, to let people watch the ongoing exercises and potentially offer advice to trainees.

Architecture

The training halls typically matched the appearance of the rest of the building, changing as time went. Parts of the room were padded, the floors and walls generally softer and overall safer for falling or tumbles. The walls (and floor, and ceiling) also were reinforced even further than the already-sturdy walls of the Temple itself, to ensure that magical practice or experimentation didn't cause (severe) damage.
