Haruna Konishi
Haruna is the founder and owner of Mutsuo, an all-purpose one stop body modification shop. If you’re looking for piercings, tattoos, or even more exotic body modification options like split tongues or bone reshaping, Mutsuo is the best of the best. Of all places in Kowloon, Mutsuo is the one most frequented by “topsiders” who seek the work of its artists.
While the parlor hosts several artists, each with a different specialty, Haruna is known as “the Tattoo Witch” because she makes her tattoo inks herself and infuses the pigments with magic of many sorts. While tattoos that do things like increase the bearer's strength are the most popular, Haruna is able to make them more fanciful as well. Rumor has it that she hasn't had a customer yet whose enchantment she wasn't able to make.
The tattoos are expensive, and Haruna is also very selective with her clients. Most of her clients are high-ranking members of the Unseen, as she is their primary tattoo artist (though otherwise unaffiliated). Being chosen to receive a tattoo from Haruna is an honor, and though you can make requests of the design you want, her artistic sensibilities come first. Besides irezumi, she also prefers intricate and geometric designs.
Haruna offers many types of enchantments for her tattoos. If you’re interested in receiving a magical tattoo from Haruna, contact a Loremaster when you have an idea of what kind of enchantment you’d like. For reference, tattoos that are purely for flavor/fun (such as a tattoo that moves across the skin and does little else) are likely to be granted without any further action while tattoos that do something like increasing their strength will need a side quest to be completed and/or be purchased with AC Tokens. Standard tattoos/piercings in the shop can be handwaved.
Sometime in the first half of The Repose, Haruna passed away. There were no unusual circumstances surrounding their death, but a life in Kowloon, a life of vice and danger, generally comes with an early grave. The Unseen moved on, as they are as eternal as Kowloon itself, and found a new leader after a relatively quiet and smooth succession battle. Few lives were lost, because Haruna had already put together a plan for her succession after death.
