British Empire

Government

Constitutional Monarchy. The King of England serves as a ceremonial figure head, but the royal family has little effective power.

History

Britain has dominated the other European powers in the colonialist game by using its superior navy to spread its influence and occupation of lands from every corner of the world. Their conquests and expansions have continued for hundreds of years, and it is said the sun never sets on their empire.

Foreign Policy

Britain has ceased its expansion for several decades and has been focusing on consolidation, stability, and peace. After the Great War, Britain is wary of German power rising again, but its even more wary of another long and costly war. They still boast the world's largest navy, which has been their greatest foreign policy asset in both peace and war.

Territories

The sheer number of lands under Britain's rule is staggering. For this reason the territories will be largely grouped together, with the exception of those that bear a greater degree of importance to the campaign.

Canada

The last major area of the New World owned by Britain. Canada is a cold expansive region that is less powerful and populated than its southern neighbor trhe United States, but also serves as a close ally with them as well as they share a similar culture and ideology.

Africa

Britain is the biggest colonialist in Africa. They hold vast swatches of land from top to bottom of the continent. Because of how undeveloped much of these territories are though, their natural resources require infrastructure to be built from scratch by the British, who must tame the undomesticated lands.

Middle East

Britain has control of several middle eastern regions including Egypt, Iraq, Palastine, Oman, Yemen, and Jordan

India

The British had influence as early as the early 1700s in India in the form of the East India Company, which has several command posts in the country used for trade. However the East india company became wealthy and powerful through trade and superior military technology to the extent of being able to exert force against the Indians who eventually folded and the whole nation fell under the control of a British company. This lasted until 1858 when India was brought under the direct control of the British government. Because of the nation's size, population, and resources, it became the crown jewel of the British Empire.

Burma

Annexed in 1886 after several decades of off an on conflict with British forces in India

Malaysia

Malaysia, similar to India, was influenced heavily by the East India Company until the British government turned Malaysia into what was essentially a client state of Britain. On the very southern tip of Malaysia is the powerful British fortress city of Singapore, which serves as Britain's biggest Asian military hub.

Papua New Guinea

While Indonesia is primarily colonized by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Britain owns half of the Island of New Guinea, a very undeveloped tribal jungle island of great size and diversity.

Australia and New Zealand

Australia is a large landmass in the southern Pacifc that was used as a place for the empire to dump prisoners off at. Eventually it flourished into its own colony that was eventually treated as a  proper part of the empire. The land mass is known for its unique and dangerous animals, and large expanses of inland desert.

Economy

The British Empire is the second largest economy in the world. The sheer number of territories they hold yield a wide array of resources in bountiful quantities that enrich and empower the nation. Britain is a highly advanced nation that is a world leader in innovation and technology.

Culture

British culture is very modest and conservative, putting high emphasis on manners, etiquette, and proper dress. Interest in exotic foods and wares has captivated the people of Britain.
