Sanctuary of Sar'Aya
The statue of Sar'Aya has fallen, cracked from her winds. The building itself still stands - made of sandstone, it is a circular building with a 30 foot ceiling. There are small tent outbuildings where the priests live behind the building itself.
Purpose / Function
This the primary temple to Sar'Aya - placed toward the edge of the desert. It is the site of a pilgrimage for many after a loved one dies - royalty in particular will come to the desert to ask Sar'Aya to be merciful to their loved ones souls.
History
The temple was built at the dawn of the world, after people wandered the world, they came back to ensure that the goddess who first protected them and loved them was properly honored. The statue was destroyed only 25 years after the temple was constructed. Most people believe this was Sar'Aya's choice, as it was destroyed in a sandstorm from deep within her desert. For this reason it was never repaired, and new statues of Sar'Aya are built 'pre destroyed' - crumbling onto a base.
