Liber Maledictus

The Liber Maledictus was penned by an unnamed scribe of the Awoken Ashes, an incredibly ancient council of wizened mages, now long extinct.  It discusses the 'true' account of the scribe having fallen into a deep coma, spending weeks within his mind, travelling to a place he described simply as 'chaos become manifest'.  It is filled with rich allegory and hyperbole describing all manner of horrors, but the introduction declares that what is penned is entirely what was witnessed during his waking, dream-like state.

The true Liber Maledictus is an enormous tome, weighing nearly fifteen pounds and a full two feet in height. The covers are crafted from simple, black wood, and the title, once written in gilt gold, is barely legible. The plain look of the exterior belies the amazing illustrations and gorgeous penmanship of the Liber Maledictus' contents.  These contents, however, were deemed too horrific for the mortal mind, and they remain locked away, lost somewhere to time and, likely, the sands of the desert; multiple abridged copies, sans the insanity-inducing illuminations and illustrations found within the original, full text, have been found in various collections throughout the world.

Many modern scholars, including members of both the Imperial Science Corps and the Royal Society for the Exploration of the Natural and Physical World, have analyzed various copies of the Maledictus, and though no conclusion can be agreed upon universally, it is generally accepted that the mind-bending locations and events described within are located in the chaotic wastes of the plane of Limbo, or within the wind-swept depths of Pandemonium; they are, hopefully, places that have never existed upon Kermoria.
