The First Fae Invasion
At what could have been considered the peak of the humanid empires, especially for the Elven and Human empires, weird portals began opening all over Keyrae leading directly from the First World. Uncharacteristically organised fae spilled out into Keyrae desecrating any humanoid settlement they came across. The resulting battles ruined the land, but Redbane suffered the most, with the entire northern half of the continent being made completely uninhabitable thanks to the Fae's magic and curses. This destroyed the seats of the Humanid Empires, causing them to have to fall back further and further until the only humanid settlements that remained were on The Orsanian Islands, causing the collapse of the Humanid empires, and marked the beginning of the Orsinian Empire.
The Conflict
Prelude
The Conflict was started when a circle of druids known as The Circle of The Elder Owl contacted a powerful archfae. Their goal was to strike a deal with the fae to bring about the destruction of the "unnatural" and return Keyrae to its natural, chaotic state, more akin to the First World.
Deployment
The Circle of The Elder Owl were successful in contacting the archfae, who's name is unknown, and together they summoned large number of fae to invade Keyrae. Portals to the first world began to open all over northern Redbane, close to major human and elven settlements at first and spreading, both on the surface and into the underground, attacking Dwarven and other subterranean species' settlements.
Outcome
The mortal forces of Keyrae were able to come together and secure a victory, forcing the Fae back into the First World.
Aftermath
The northern half of Redbane was utterly destroyed, as were any settlements in that region. The region became known as The Salted Lands, and was completely uninhabitable. Even plants and nature recoiled from the Salted Lands, and the Beastfolk Kingdoms unanimously agreed that these lands would belong to no one. Recently, however, the area has seen explosive growth in plant life and animal life, and is experiencing weird time-warping effects. For many, this is evidence that the Fae are planning a second invasion.
The invasion and the mass loss of land was enough to drive most humanids out of Redbane, and eventually away from the other continents of Keyrae as well. Most fled to The Orsanian Islands, which was mostly left unaffected by the invading forces. Small populations of humanid species were able to remain in isolated communities, but over time they were generally ostracised and blamed for letting the invading forces get as far as they did.
