Gar'ar

The Gar'ar, as they have come to be known by the Dray, are a fascinating addition to the diversity of Khana. Comprising two similar species, they arrived recently in Zelenemorsk, an occurrence that has piqued the curiosity of the natives given the currently impassable deep ocean routes. Their arrival has certainly not been an unremarkable one, for the Gar'ar, who have yet to reveal their own species names, have quickly embedded themselves into local life, delighting in the quaint customs of their new neighbours.   Stature-wise, the Gar'ar stand shorter than most Khana inhabitants, with compact, sturdy frames that emphasize their agility and resilience. The distinction between the two species is subtle but noticeable, with variations in height, build, and facial features. Their expressions often hold a glint of mischievous intelligence, a hint at their innate affinity for magic.   The Gar'ar have openly embraced the Dray-given name, finding charm in the earnest attempts of the locals to categorize them. This is despite the locals' awareness that the 'ar' suffix, derived from the racist name for the @duth, historically bears connotations of being 'lesser' or 'lower.' In a peculiar twist of cultural perceptions, the Gar'ar seem unperturbed by this, instead taking delight in the idiosyncrasies of the local cultures. In fact, they seem to relish the irony, exhibiting a jovial indifference to any inferred insult. Their attitude, it appears, is more focused on engaging with the novelty and excitement of their new surroundings rather than indulging in cross-species politics.   Interestingly, the Gar'ar show a deep-rooted skepticism towards Artifice, the technological magic that fuels Khana's advanced societies. Preferring their natural magical abilities, they tend to shy away from Arc-Gem technology, a trait that further sets them apart in a world heavily dependent on artifice.   Despite their mysterious origins and distinct cultural attitudes, the Gar'ar have quickly woven themselves into the fabric of Khana's society, their unique perspective adding yet another layer to the already diverse world. Their love for the 'local color' and their disarming joy in exploration and learning have endeared them to the people of Khana. And while their resistance to artifice may cause occasional friction, their presence ultimately serves to highlight the rich diversity of life on Khana.
