Maggek

Sacred to the many Goblinoid tribes that roam the Underlands and the Overworld are animal deities and demigods, the spirits and chosen emblems of their species. From wolves to boars, spiders and even some fish, Goblinoid hordes and tribes usually pledge themselves to one great animal spirit under which their banner forms. Being closer to beasts than man themselves, as some judgemental denizens of Khasur would point out, the beasts have an affinity for them as well. Goblinoids often do not bathe, nor write or read books, nor build homes to keep tidy or hold jobs with pensions - they are hungry creatures, clever, and often single-mindedly focused on accumulating wealth or struggling to find their next meal.   As such, the Goblinoid religion as it were is known as Maggek, or simply as 'magic,' good or bad, small or big. They focus their spiritual energies on the great creatures that live near and amongst them, and are sometimes blessed with the companionship of dire versions of their chosen emblematic animal.   Do not mistake an animal spirit deity or their demigod vessels in this plane for mere pawns or 'lesser' gods, as spiritual energy is spiritual energy. Can you count crabs in the seas? Or number the ants in all the ant hills in all the woods, or a screeching mass of bats? The noble bear, and the stubborn auroch, these are the powers that the Goblinoids respect for their strength and venerate above the mortal plane.
