The Conflagration & The Husks

During the chaos of the early world there was an era of fire and smoke, and amidst it violence and war, famine and disease. Little few know about this time, but there are legends - stories of fiery abominations, devils and demons, otherworldly entities leaking from other dimensions, tears in the fabric of reality, and of course the endless dead. So much death, and the repose of life itself, led to death breaking it's normal chains and continuing the steps of a partner dance alone. The husks that came from this time never seemed to fully decay, trapped in their final moments of agony, or reliving scenes from before the chaos, and smoke, and fire. From this time of trial and upheaval the humans were born, so many of the early kingdoms' denizens are counted amongst the husks. The era that led to this fiery plague of undeath is known as the Conflagration.

The average citizen of the overworld of Khasur has never encountered an undead monstrosity or soulless husk, but many below ground have, and they are just common enough to be featured in children's bedtime stories, or used as a costume on Khobon or All Souls Day, Samhain in some cultures.
