Revolution

some Dwarves grow tired of the greed of the Dwarves in charge and a revolution ensues, resulting in a rift in the dwarven people, the dwarves who once enslaved there own kin now retreat into the depths of the underdark and become a new race bent on retaking the Dwarven mountains and reestablish their rule

The second Dwarven king of mount Fireburst, king Gruffnick, enters his 15th year as king and is known as a tyrant, using less fortunate dwarves to mine the gems that amass his fortune, tensions eventually coming to head when a group of freedom fighter dwarves broke into the city bordering the dwarven capital and set up a camp, this cause many of the enslaved dwarves to flee to the city and a army is amassed, the revolution continues for 2 years before the freedom fighters would breach the dwarven capital, the once proud and noble highborn dwarves forced to flee thru tunnels leading into the underdark. now they live far benaeth the earth as the duergar twisted and changed into pale reflections of their brothers, waiting below plotting to retake the kingdom that was once theirs
