Altan

Altan is a god worshipped throughout parts of Atios whose origins are unknown. This god is typically portrayed as male and is also referred to as the Hidden God.

Not much is known about the worship of Altan before the return of the Starless Nights. Ancient texts on the god are known to have existed, but the whereabouts of those texts are a mystery. Most believe that surviving texts have either been destroyed or have been gathered and hidden by the Cult of Altan.

Altan is included in the Great Pantheon of gods, but he is seen by many current practitioners as a shadowy figure with spiteful ill intentions.

Items associated with Altan are rare and have become quite a collector's item in Din'Lux. Adventurers who travel beyond the walls between Starless Nights search ruins for these items in hopes of selling them for a high price. Counterfeit items with a supposed connection to the Hidden God have been found in circulation by the authorities who have recently tried to crack down on such crimes.

Modern-day followers of Altan, known derogatively as cultists, have a variety of beliefs regarding their god. Most known, however, is the belief that it is Altan's will for the Starless Nights to completely consume the world so that it can be remade as a peaceful utopia. This belief is known as the Great Cycle.
