Animated Objects
The magical arts have allowed sorcerers to bring the lifeless to life, at least temporarily. Magic-users of the past have successfully animated a variety of objects including self-pulling wagons, dancing floral arrangements, and even swords that have been imbued with enough energy to wave around a bit before clanging back to the ground.
The pitfalls of these spells are that they often consume a large amount of magical energy and require expensive and rare ingredients. The spells also tend to last mere seconds, leaving them largely useless.
The Rite of Living Stone
The Rite of Living Stone is one of the few animation spells that has yielded successful results. It requires rare materials and a complicated incantation, so few have bothered to attempt it. It has also proven to be quite dangerous. Not long ago, a scholar in the Horseshoe attempted the Rite of Living Stone upon a pile of boulders. The massive rock golem that formed smashed its way through several homes and buildings before finally tumbling back into a lifeless pile of stones as the spell wore off.
