Elias Talltide
Elias Talltide
he/him
Elias Talltide was an Imperial Ambassador to the capital city of Din'Lux before the return of the Starless Nights. He was tasked with observing the Great War, and making sure that the Berian Empire was in the good graces of the victor. Once the Darkness returned, Elias became the de facto representative of the imperial citizens in the city. Elias was an influential figure before the Starless Nights returned. As cousin of the Berian emperor himself, Elias was a member of an affluent family with vast wealth. In his youth, he led a number of military campaigns, winning the love of the people, while his cousin governed the Empire. His expert skills in diplomacy and maneuvering his way out of difficult situations were well-known, which is at least one of the reasons for which he was sent to the elven capital. There was gossip at the court that Elias had ambitions to become Emperor himself, which is also why his jealous cousin sent him away. Elias’ wife and children stayed behind in the Crimson City, on request of the Emperor. Officially, he wanted his nieces and nephews to spend more time on the court. Unofficially they were hostages to keep his overly ambitious cousin in check. After contact with the Empire was lost, Elias became the highest ranking official of the Empire. According to imperial law, this made him representative of the Empire. Here in the city of Din'Lux, he has been appointed as a member of the City Council, the primary ruling body. As a Councilor, he is rarely controversial, though he often takes a stand in favor of the small human population of Din'Lux.
Elias Talltide is a sly, intelligent man who genuinely cares about humanity. He’s a big proponent and benefactor of the Seekers’ Guild, and hopes that through it, they might find some way to reconnect with the Empire that was lost.
Although most believe that the world beyond the reach of the Great Lighthouse has been lost, Elias holds tight to the conviction that the Berian Empire's capital, the Crimson City, still stands. He has submitted several requests for an expedition to travel to the empire to assess its condition, but he has yet to gain enough support for what most see as a doomed mission.
