The Nobles pick up the King and carry him out to the Treadwater River, hurling him into the shallow water with a cheer.
When he climbs back up the banks, soaking wet, the Chancellor steps forward and places the crown upon his head. Is it Calimaco's imagination, or are some of the Nobles stifling giggles?
