The actors believe that the theatre is cursed. They refuse to perform even a single play for us.

The High Inquisitor reports back from the theatre in a matter of weeks.
High Inquisitor Petronia:First thing I noticed about the theatre? No birdsong. There was something deeply wrong in that place. Nevertheless, we prayed to the Ninth God, burned holy incense, and performed our rites.
We're still not sure of the cause of the curse, but I am pleased to report that we successfully cleansed the theatre's aura.
