The Fae
Basic Information
Anatomy
The fae are spawned to be human-like in appearance and biology, as their fathers, the archangels, most often choose to use human forms when visiting Earth. Because of this, they tend to have genders and sexes common among humans, as well. However, due to their bodies being made of angelic matter, they do not create any waste when digesting food or liquids. This means they lack bladders and intestines and have no need to relieve themselves.
Genetics and Reproduction
The fae cannot reproduce. This is believed to be because their fathers cannot give birth due to their corporeal nature, so no fae can, either. They also cannot reproduce with other species.
Growth Rate & Stages
The fae are born fully mature, emerging from the topsoil or vegetation where their seeds came to rest. They are born knowing vaguely what they are, thanks to their father's divine knowledge. They then set about creating a safe, hidden place to live their lives, sometimes interacting with mortals and sometimes not. They are bound to land on which they were born, and can only leave it of part of the land is relocated. Though they are immortal, they may die if they consumed by fire, or if the soil of the land is badly tainted. They may also die if they relocate with a patch of soil, and that soil is destroyed in any way before it becomes blended with the soil at a new location, or if their soil is spread too thinly over too great a space, or divided and the parts spaced too far apart.
Ecology and Habitats
The fae will live anywhere they are born or anywhere their soil is moved to. They prefer living among nature, but have at times been found in the suburbs and cities.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The fae usually survive on plants and insects, or whatever food they can get among mortals.
Additional Information
Social Structure
The fae tend to live in relative peace in their communities, with true equality between the members. No one fairy is in charge, but the community comes together to deal with issues, including the supply of food and determining what to do about mortals discovering their communities.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Global.
Average Intelligence
Fae often inherit some divine knowledge, also known as grace, from their fathers. This makes most of them highly intelligent and able to learn quickly, especially about the wider world.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The fae have magical powers that relate to the environment in which they were spawned. Those spawned in rocky areas gave rise to the legends of dwarves, while those spawned by the sea were the source of siren stories.
Civilization and Culture
Relationship Ideals
Most relationships among the fae are casual, as it is their nature to want intimacy.
History
The first of the fae were created by accident. The archangels knew how reproduction happened long before they were graced with the ability to father children. They determined that they could still enjoy sex with mortal women without fathering children if they simply spent themselves elsewhere. What they didn't expect was that, if this was done on the bare ground where rays of moonlight could touch it, fairies would be born.
When God learned of this, God was unhappy. The archangels were not meant to spawn fairies. They were reprimanded and told to seek male lovers, of other forms of pleasure, if they didn't wish to father too many children.
Some of the archangels continue to father more fae because God rarely pays attention to such things anymore.
