Grand Duke Miguel
Miguel Iturbide Guerrero was the son of Emperor of Mexico Vicente II and Empress Maria. He was the sole survivor of the Republican Revolution of 1865 and fled to America in 1866, his grandfather, King William I, declared war on the Provisional Government and briefly installed Miguel as Emperor in 1866. However, a second coup in 1867 removed Miquel after his regents silently abdicated on his behalf and sent him to exile in America. His uncle, the new king Edward I, drew upon the war exhausted America and elected not to reinvade a fourth time.
In 1869, he was granted the title Duke of Colorado. Following the Third Mexican Civil War, and the creation the Grand Duchy of Central America, he was placed as Grand Duke by Edward I in order to maintain American control over the Nicaragua Canal.
