They lived expensively, some buying and selling houses and businesses as if they were toys or spending their money on flashy weapons and black market magic armor."
"...Kandrae wasn’t guarded or surrounded by a fortified wall... The splendor almost made no sense for the rough soldiers who lived there, even if soldiers had more money than they knew what to do with. A dazzling array of multi-colored buildings, stained-glass windows, steel doors, and shining jewels that refracted onto cobblestone streets would greet visitors to the unbelievable city. Administrative buildings that towered into the sky were made with gold a few shades lighter than Camoor’s signature amber dotting the flags that flew on shops and taverns. Walls of arches that curved inwards to meet at the top separated the commercial area of the city from the large military housing that spread out in the middle of the city, just past the shops and fancier taverns. Buildings with ornate patios or tiered gardens made up the brunt of the housing structures separated by territory. The houses in each territory’s section all looked the same on the outside. The main differences were banners of family crests or seasonal plants on display in boxes under open windows."
