Davik Nettles

Davik Nettles was a retired engineer who built the bridge at Nettle's Crossing. He allowed any to cross his bridge without judgement, be they bandit or trapper, as long as they had the coin. Since the crossing was the only significant one in the region, Davik made a fair amount of money for his work. One day, the Stag Lord paid Davik a visit and informed him that people with the Stag Lord's badge were now to be given free crossing. Additionally, Davik would have to pay the Stag Lord for the privilege of being allowed to operate the bridge. Davik refused, and ran the bandits off with the aid of his hounds.
That night, the bandits returned. They surrounded Davik's house and set it on fire with flaming arrows and shot the hounds as they escaped. Davik fled across his bridge, but the bandits cut the ropes and the bridge collapsed, plunging Davik into the cold river below. Though Davik struggled to swim to shore, the nights wounds were too much for him and he drowned. Onshore, the bandits watched, gleefully chuckling, their leering shadows dancing before the hovel's flames as it burned to cinders. The Stag Lord left, appointing several bandits to rebuild the bridge and take up the position of toll takers.
The next night, Davik rose from the water as an undead spirit of vengeance and murdered the bandits before dragging their bodies to the river to feast upon their remains. More bandits were sent to check up on the crossing, but they too were slain. A couple of them, however, managed to escape to warn the Stag Lord of the folly of attempting to send bandits to the crossing again. The Stag Lord wisely abandoned his plans for the crossing, and it has moldered since. When the Silver Dicks arrived at the crossing, they were greeted by Davik Nettles undead corpse who demanded that they bring the body of the Stag Lord and toss him into the river.
