Varnhold
Varnhold is a small settlement east of the Tors of Levenies. It is currently run by Maegar Varn, who established it a couple of years ago. The settlement is threatened by the Nomen Centaurs to the east, who believe that it is built on sacred grounds.
Notable buildings are numbered on the map. Their descriptions are as follows:
- The Hog Farm - On the north side of town, the Hog Farm is generally regarded as a useful, but unpleasant place due to it's noise and smell.
- Farmhouses
- Hides From Rides - The tannery is another unpleasant building whose stench wafts across the river if the wind is blowing the wrong way.
- Delvers Brewery - This building partially overhangs the river bank and is responsible for Cheerful Delver Stout, a popular local beer.
- Kiravoy Ford - The river here is shallow enough to ford easily. While plans for a bridge are in the works, no such structure has been started yet.
- Main Roadway - This is the primary road in and out of town due to traders commonly wanting to avoid the unpleasantness of the north riverbank. A bridge was built far to the north to accomodate this.
- Town Commons - This stretch of grass in the middle of the road is the common gathering place of Varnhold's citizens. It is surrounded by the settlements most popular shops.
- The Horse and Hammer - A long low building surrounded by a sturdy fence. The Horse and Hammer is the local blacksmith and turns out practical metalwork for the nearby farmers.
- Cloaks for Folks - This modest cottage is full of tailored clothing. On nice days, it's proprietor sets up stands in the Commons to display and sell his clothing.
- Potters Potions - This store sells potions and pots. The propietor hates the color green.
- Gundarsons House - Willas Gundarson lives in this house dug into the side of the hill.
- Waterhorse Tavern and Inn
- The Church of Erastil - Run by Caspar Morgarion, this church is simply furnished.
- Weavers Wares - This store sells bolts of cloth
- The Grange - This barn has a wide door and stores food for the town to use during the cold months.
- Glitterworks - This shop sells gems and finery.
- Fort Varnold - This fort serves as a walled refuge when Varnhold is attacked, and serves as the home of Maegar Varn.
