Life, Death
The Duke of Kormyre Loric De'More had come to Travance to rule it for about a year. Arriana the Dark Queen of Evernight marched the might of her armies to Travance to squash the troublesome meddling of its heroes. The Duke knew she was coming and met intercepted her army. Alone he faced them and alone he died, however he had a powerful ritual upon him referred to as "The White Legacy" and upon his death the Dark Queen of Evernight was stripped of her memories and was never seen from again. The whole of her armies without her leadership became disorganized and either disbanded or returned to Evernight.
My Lord King, I regretfully am the bearer of dismal news. By the time you read this letter I fear your lands to the east of the rift known as Travance, will be no more. My liege you are more than my king, you are my friend. We have exchanged secrets that are most dear with each other and thus you know of my lineage and power. Seven hours ago I sensed an incredible disturbance nearby. Through the use of my powers I have been able to ascertain that Ariana herself is but half a days distance from our very town. She no doubt has plans to obliterate key members of our community and destroy everything in her wake. History shows that she has the power to easily perform this task. I have told no one of this news save my wife and the warlord. It has been such a beautiful and peaceful day… Even now as I look out the window I can see a commoner playing games with his child. If indeed these are to be Travances final hours, Id rather my people spend them in joyful happiness than in a state of horrific panic. Just an hour ago Kyrle asked me how everything was going. I told him everything was just fine… It is not the first time that I have lied to or mislead my friends and people for the betterment of their own good. I justify this behavior in a very wise saying… Ignorance is bliss. For once in my life, I know not what to do. . . I want to tell everyone to prepare for a battle, but I know it would be in vane. I have not been strait forward with these people about the Dragon Queens true power. Such an ancient and powerful being cannot be engaged in combat to any successful outcome. I never expected this from her. I can only pray to Valos that the entire ordeal is executed swiftly… I cant believe that I am talking like this! There must be a way to avoid this fate, but time is growing short and I have but a few final hours to make my decision. One thing is certain, only by the grace of the gods will Travance be still standing when you receive this letter. Your Grace, I have served your family loyally for a great length of time. Over the year that I have been here I have grown to love its people, and while it is within my power to leave this place and save myself, It is my decision that I shall share the same fate as that of these people. I have one possible solution for this dire situation and I am beginning to feel that a sacrifice is in order. I hope you can understand and forgive me for what I am bout to do. Forever your faithful servant, Loric D’More
