Gnomes Return to Palmydia

Diplomatic action

1214
1218

In the year 1214, a most unusual occurrence transpired. The Gates of Passage held in Travance activated, seemingly of their own accord, and a portal opened up, ushering in several people battered and beaten, screaming and bleeding. Among the elves, orcs, and humans were also gnomes! This was the first reemergence of the gnomes, and they would return once more in 1218.

The people who came through immediately sought the help of the Travance heroes, claiming that they were attacked by an aggressive force that aimed to kill them before they had made it through. Through some kind of attack that occurred before they could enter the gate, they all slowly died over the course of the next day.   It was not until several years later, in 1218 that the Gates opened again with gnomes from the same region as before. The leader, Senator Akran Palazzo of the Arkanarium in VIS, had the Gates rebuilt from their destruction during the attack in 1214, and ventured through with an entourage to negotiate a trade terms with the barony and kingdom. Of the many things he offered, he brought the gnomes knowledge of advanced engineering to the kingdom and thus the rest of the world. Since then, many gnomes from VIS have emigrated to new homes on Palmydia and others to Doth Moria, leading to the re-population of gnomes on these major continents.
