The Great Upheaval

Fiery projectiles soared through the smoke, lighting up what the sun could no longer pierce. Rocks shattered upon the ground like thunderdrums, flinging ruin and death in their wake. Glowing rivers akin to molten metal ran through the city, further setting the land ablaze and melting everything in their path.
- Kahuj, A Vision of Doom
During the year 1 HC, the massive volcano that made up the island home of the elven people erupted in an almighty explosion that wiped out everything still atop the land as well as a ship that was fleeing the destruction.   This event was the catalyst that would see the surviving elven people, now very few in numbers, arrive on the shore of what once used to be Udynea. Predicted by their Oracles through the fabled Seer Stones, they worked to fashion enough ships designed to carry the whole populous far from the volcano's range. Sadly, this was not to happen as their efforts lessened their time and the volcano's eruption happened unexpectedly, leaving the people to fight for their spot on the handful of ships.

Due to the island's great distance from any other bodies of land, only it was gravely affected. The continent's western shores experienced a tidal wave, but it was barely bigger than those brought on by annual storms and was only recorded as an anomaly after the elves arrived.   Not many survivors spoke of the time, but Elven Nomads speak of hot ash falling from the sky, of suffocation from ground vapours and, through the black smoke, seeing an insidious glow that claimed everything.
