Archaeologist

"That dig on the Mudruck was the best and worst of my life. On day sixty one we found a trove of Fossilized Spells . There were even two new ones there. On day sixty three we found the wizard's tomb that was responsible for the trove. On day sixy four he woke up. There were four survivors."

Career

Qualifications

Archaologists are usually (but not always) from the Tower of Souls. Either the tower trains them or the tower commissions them. Some are commissioned by private collectors or people interested in their own genealogies.

Other Benefits

Archaeologists are in a dangerous profession, but the rewards can be great and first look at any discoveries or advancements is nothing to scoff at.

Perception

Purpose

Rediscovering lost knowledge, most years see more advancement coming from such rediscoveries than they do from actual innovation.

Social Status

Archaeologists are looked at with a bit of mistrust by average citizens. While the upper crust or scholarly class might see immediate potential benefit from their efforts, citizens tend to only really notice a new discovery by an archaeologist when that discovery happens to be undead, a booby trap, or some other such disruptive nonsense.

Operations

Dangers & Hazards

Not only are curses, cursed items, and undead a not uncommon problem for archaeologists, but their digs often take place in the deep wilderness and occasionally in outright hostile regions.
