Fossilized Spells

"On a dig in the Barrier Mountains, I discovered a stone with odd markings. I thought nothing of it for years. Then, one day during a flight of fancy, I scribbled down the lines and realized that I was looking at an unfamiliar spell. That's how I brought Acid Arrow into our current spellbooks."

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Spells cast in the right circumstances can imprint themselves on certain stones. Alternatively a caster that dies with unused spell slots sometimes imprint the area around their graves with errant spell energy, which can then become fossilized spells.

Manufacturing process

The process for making fossilized spells is accidental and shrouded in mystery.
