The Virgin Sacrifice

Priestesses of the Virgins sacrifice themselves to entrap the avatar of Orcus into the Penumbral Ring, a badge of office for the edler charged with defense of the realm.

One priestess each of Morwal, Vhara, and Domielle lead a desperate fight ending with their martyrdom against Orcus in the ruins of the Demiurge Temple. They trap his avatar into a ring, spending the last of their lives in the process. Their acolytes, who rise to replace them, take the ring and give it to Edler Thameson of Maecodia. This artifact (Known as the Penumbral Signet) is credited with many of the victories of the office.
