Iliac is gifted the griffons by Cerin.

Iliac arrives in the final canton and discovers that Cerin had given them a gift: griffons bred for war as harriers, mounts, and scouts. According to some accounts, the breeding program was begun by Havanneni’s father, continued through her life, and was finally finished by Cerin. In addition to the tame griffons maintained by Cambreath, many had escaped into the wild and had upended the natural order, creating a new one in its place.
