Lake Hope Canton is founded.
Pioneers and frontiersmen strike out past the Barriers and establish the westernmost canton by a freshwater lake that they name Lake Hope. Lake Hope also becomes the name for the settlement. Rumors of boogeymen plague the towns and immigration is slow.
