The Starchosen Wardens meet Terrence the Scion, and discover his secret.

The Starchosen Wardens are invited to Terrence the Scion's home, where he staged an elaborate murder mystery for them.   They discover that he had not died, but in fact had killed a clone created with the help of a shard he had taken from an Orcish spawning pool. He has been cloning himself repeatedly, creating the Rencer Guards and ensuring his near infinite continuation.   The Starchosen Wardens killed Terrence unexpectedly and set out for the river, knowing that he would be back.
