The Coronation of King Thancred XVI

Oh, now that was one the whole world later knew about. I mean, the royal crown and cepter going missing from under the noses of thousands of people, a small riot, martial law. Not the best way to start ones rule. On the bright side, his rule could only get better from there.
— Jasper Cameron, Leader of The Bronze Ravens
Relsk sat perched on the edge of the Cathedrals roof, crown on his head and staff clutched in his hand, albeit both with a slight covering of stone pulled from the surrounding roof. "Did you see their faces?" he chuckled, "The archbishop just sitting there 'Where's the Crown, WHERE IS THE CROWN?' Thancred growing redder and redder by the second. This may be my best prank yet." He glanced over at the Gargoyle perched next to him, which resembled a squirrel with wings.   "You... you aren't alive are you." he glared at the squirrel, waiting for it to respond. "Well, someone is going to keep me company. I'm thinking what, about 2 weeks, and then I'll put them back in the royal suite. A month at most. Heavy is the head that wears the crown and all that." He gestured towards his head, where the stone-encased crown was melded to him.   It really had been brilliant. With all the comings and goings in the Cathedral in preparation no one had even noticed him, not that anyone would have anyway. Walked right in through the southern wall. Stayed there a bit, watching the practice for the ceremony over the course of a couple of days.   Then, the night before the ceremony, he moved down and stepped into the marble altar where they were going to have the Crown and Scepter for the coronation. Kept his ear pressed right up to the edge, then after hours of speeches and lineages being read and this and that, right when everyone bowed their heads in prayer, it was such a simple matter to reach up and pull the artifacts into the marble with him, slip them off the pillow, and replace the pillow back on top.   Now it was just a matter of waiting in plain sight waiting among the decorative gargoyles and grotesques until they had searched everywhere and commissioned new royal accouterments. Then he would slip down to the King's chambers, replace the new ones with the originals, tuck a note into the crown reminding this king to be better to his people than his grandfather had been, and then off on the next adventure. After all, he had heard the dwarves of Osect were bragging about an "impenetrable vault" again, and he did have a reputation to maintain.

Haahaha, not the most auspicious way to start one's rule.
