Dragonborn

Long ago, the Celestial Dragons ruled the Spheres. On the Material Planes, the Material Dragons, pale echoes of the mighty Celestial Dragons, ruled their realms.

Born of dragons, as their name proclaims, the dragonborn walk proudly through a world that greets them with fearful incomprehension. Shaped by draconic gods or the dragons themselves, dragonborn originally hatched from dragon eggs as a unique race, combining the best attributes of dragons and humanoids.]

Basic Information

Anatomy

The salient anatomical trait of dragonborn are the glands associated with the breath weapon they possess. Though there are no sub-species, per se, the different breath weapons available to various dragonborn lead to divergent morphologies.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragonborn are a bit unique. They reproduce sexually via sexual intercourse, but the female will subsequently lay one to three fertilized eggs, which hatch outside the body. Dragonborn guard their eggs and care for their young (unlike "true" dragons, which guard their eggs, but do not care for their young).

You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one.
