Half-Sylvans - Half-Elves
When humans produce offspring with any of the sylvan species, the result is a half-sylvan (often called a half-elf). To most humans, they look like sylvans. To sylvans, they appear human.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Genetics and Reproduction
Half-sylvans reproduce sexually, but the nature of their offspring depends upon their parentage. When two half-syvans mate, the resulting offspring is also a half-sylvan. Half-sylvans that mate with sylvans produce offspring of the same species as the sylvan parent. Similarly, when a half-sylvan mates with a human, the resulting offspring is a human.
Growth Rate & Stages
Half-sylvans reach maturity close to the same age as their human ancestors - around twenty years of age. They live deep into their second century, averaging around one hundred eighty years at their deaths.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Half-sylvans have pointed ears like their sylvan parents, but their ears are not as long. Furthermore, adult males develop facial hair similar to that of humans. Their eyes retain the almondine shape of their sylvan parents, but the angle is closer to that of human eyes.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Half-sylvans have body coloration that averages the coloration of their parents. This results in some unique hues, though most look generally human in coloration. Eye color generally favors that of the sylvan parent.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Owing to their sylvan heritage, half-sylvans have the ability to see in dim light and darkness.
