Issiz

Issiz was a large Empire that stretched from the Diares range in the west to the far-eastern end of the Empo mountains. The Empire fell as a result during the great Calamity, and its lands were left completely barren. The once green woods of the north were swallowed by the southern Desert. The only Issizi settlement that survived the Great Calamity is the city of Potoneiron. The ruling council of wizards and sorcerers protected the city against the effects of the Calamity. Now it serves as the last haven of Issizi civilization. Before its collapse, the Empire saw recurring conflict with the growing Asterian Republic. These wars are often simply referred to as Anatolian wars. The earlier wars saw Issiz best the republic on land, but in the latter half of the 5th century the empire was pushed back to behind the Diares and Empo mountains. The land is marked by Korkunc’s Rest, the ruin of the great fortress to keep Aster at bay, and the heart of where the Great Calamity happened. The lands beyond the ruin lies empty and dead. Except for the bright red poppies, that taint the pristine sands.
